Buying second-hand machinery

Bertil Ohlsson: we´re willing to buy back our own second-hand machinery

Back to the roots is the motto: Bertil Ohlsson´s name is famous world-wide for being a traditional manufacturer of machines and toolings for can manufacturing; Bertil Ohlsson´s products are just as much in use in Europe and America as in Asia, Africa and Australia. The company has now begun a remarkable venture, offering owners of Bertil Ohlsson machines, "Made in Sweden", the possibility of selling them back.

Bertil Ohlsson machines enjoy an excellent reputation world-wide and are very popular. The machines manufactured in Göteborg have an almost umlimited lifespan: 30 or more years is nothing out of the ordinary. Bertil Ohlsson offers delivery and assembly for the entire range of toolings and spare parts for all the machines it has built.
Bertil Ohlsson has now gone a step further: "Their machines are durable and therefore lose little of their initial value", says Christof Bürig, managing director of their Mothercompany Klinghammer Can Technology, "Which is why second-hand Bertil Ohlsson machines are so much in demand". The company is already taking on general overhauls for Bertil Ohlsson machines built decades ago and then re-selling them. What´s new is that customers wanting to sell their second-hand machinery now have the possibility of offering it to Bertil Ohlsson.
Christof Bürig says the machines are "best off at Ohlsson", but not for nostalgic reasons: "For ventures of this size, it´s really not worth asking anyone else because they are the only ones with the appropriate know-how and original spare parts", he says. "They can carry out maintenance and general overhauls most efficiently and because of this, offer the best resale price".
It doesn´t matter whether it´s a single machine or several, Bertil Ohlsson is interested just the same. "We´d recommend people to turn to them first when they decide to sell their second-hand Bertil Ohlsson machines", emphasises Christof Bürig, "Especially when they are taken in part-exchange for new ones".
